THE LAND BOARD.

Ah tho sitting of tho Land Board held on tho 11th instant tho following business of local interest was transacted.—The District Laud Officer, Clyde, transmitted applications from the undermentioned persons for leases of their sections under section 54 of the Land Act of 187- : —Mrs Helen M'tiitosh, sections fi and 7, block V, Tiger Hill ; Mr John MTutoah, sections 1, 2, and 8, block V, Tiger Hill. — l Tho District Land Officer reported that tho conditions of the Act had been complied with.—lt was resolved that leases should issue. The District Land Officer, Clyde, reported on the application of Mr John Cole Chappie, to exchange deterred payment license for section 21), block 111, Lauder district, for a lease under section 54 of the Land Act, 1572. It appeared that the rents had been paid up, but tho conditions of residence Mr Chappie having lived at Alexandra—and of improvement had not been given effect to,—The conditions of occupation not having been complied with, tho Board was unable to accede to the request. The, Chairman of the Maniototo County Council transmitted a resolution adopted by tho Council in reference to opening lands at St Bathans. It was resolved that tho Chairman be informed that the Land Board had done cveiything in its power—instead of delaying—to expedite the opening of the land in question. Applications to purchase under agricultural leases were approved of as follows Mr John Crossan, section 11, block I, i’oviot; Sir F. D. Bell, section 11, block IV, Tiger Hill district.
