ARROWTOWN.
(from our own correspondent.) The neglect of the late Provincial Government to make the rohii from MacetoWn np to tho Twelve-mile Ctcek is causing considerable loss to the district the mining ‘ companies in particular—and 1 much question if the season has not been lost for crushingbperations. The one thing wanted to establish the Madctown Reefs is a crushing or tw6, and tins our late rulers have done their best tb -pfeVent, although hundreds of pounds halve been expended upon roads and tracks, alhd nbt One shilling asked in compensation ; while, eVen tb 'reach the 'machine sites a large additional expenditure will be necessary. 4he All Natiohs ■ and Maryborough Companies, <fn the cfosa reef, are upba splendid gold, and these 'mines cannbt otherwise thhn prove a'fortune to their owhers. The Homewarcl Bound Company have cbme upbn tibme excellent atone, both in their tunnels and upper levels, and they expect to commence crushing operations in less than a week. The Victor ’Emanuel has struck first-rhte gold ) while a ■new reef has been struck in the Twelvemile Creek, which presents capital prospects. Finn’s claim now stands a capital show, payable gold having been struck on both sides of it. Mr Finn purposes commencing active operations immediately. The weather is fine nbw, and everything favorable for prospecting parties.
