ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
The usn'al'tteeting of the 'Council on the Bth instant. A full meeting bf the Council 2>resent. The miftttes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The ontWard correspondence was read and approved. A letter Was read from Mr W. Beattie asking permission from the Council to lay a pipe under the footpath, to Convey water from the street into his preihists. The application was granted. A letter Was received frftrii the Mitoistet of Public Works, re the Kailway Line t6 Tuapeka, stating that instructions had previously been given which would ensure the line to be opened at tbe earliest possible date. A letter was read fiom Mr W. H. Hastedt, which was not received. Cr. Simmonds moved that the Council build a Town Hall. After considerable ' discussion it was seconded by Cr. Mackersy and carried. The Council formed themselves into a Committee to carry out the object, the plans and specifications were inspected, and some slight alterations ordered to be made, and to be brought before the next sitting of A the Council to be holden on the loth instant.
