THE RACE-MEETING STAND AND BOOTHS.

to the editor or the " dunstan times". Sir, —I, among3t many others, am much surprised at the manner in which the Race Committee are acting, as to the occupation of the Stand and Booths at the forthcoming Races. Why should tha matter not be made a subject of public competition, and the syatem pursued in Victoria and other places be adopted, b.y putting the stand, &c, up oy public auction, and thus give every one an equal chance to compete for any benefit to be derived from the affair ? Surely the subscribers to the Race-Fund are entitled to some consideration, and it has been hoped, that such a job as was perpetrated in the clearing of the course, would not have been repeated iu the disposal of the remaining patronage asauuied by the Committee, Yours, &c, . -' Subscriber. Clyde, 28th Nov., 1866.
