(FROM OVR PARLIAMENTARY REPORTS h) [BY telegraph.] Wellington, This day. The Minister for Lands told a deputation of Wellington residents who protested against the provision compelling streets in suburban districts to be formed a chain in width, that the SurveyorGeneral held it was not necessary to go outside the ordinary batter of streets. As there were doubts as to the reading of the law the matter would have to be settledThere is no prospect of the bill for the abolition of the totalisator being again reached this session. Rifle clubs are petitioning to have a New Zealand team sent to England next year, about the time of the King's Coronation. The Mildura is coming over to complete the survey of the coasts which was begun by the Penguin, as the result of representations made by the Premier to the Imperial Government a couple of years ago., The colony pays half the cost of the survey.
