ESCAPE OF NOUMEA CONVICTS.
Encounter With the Police.
Some of the Gang Still at Large.
United Press Association. By Electric Telegraph — Copyright. (Received Dec. 10, 9.28 a.m.) Sydney, This day. Advice has been received from Noumea that a party of French convicts have escaped into the bush. In an encounter with the police one was killed and several were wounded on each side. Several of the gang are still at large, stealing cattle and burning houses.
