A Coal Dealer Fined.

AuCKLiND, Last night

At the Police Court to-day W. and G. Winston c pleaded guilty to a breach of the Shop Act by employing a carter engaged in delivering coal after 1 o'clock on Saturday, but pointed out that the award of the Conciliation Board allowed the employment of carters on a Saturday afternoon on payment of overtime. The Magistrate, Mr Brabant, said it was clear that a carter delivering coal was a shop assistant within the meaning ol the Act, but as defendants considered themselves protected by the award of the Conciliation Board, he inflicted a fine only of £1, with costs £1 Bs.
