Drastic Retrenchment.

Wellington, This day,
In .consequence of the unsatisfactory condition of their finances, the Wellington Education Board are instituting drasticretrenchment in several directions. Notice of dismissal has been given to about forty teachers in various parts of the district, and the Board's grant to the technical school is likely to be cut down by one-third. The whole position comes up for review at to-morrow : s meeting of the Board.
