TRINITY CHURCH.
Ihe organ recital and saored concert in Trinity Ohurch last evening attracted a large audience, the downstairs portion of the churoh being crowded, while the old choir gallery was also filled. Unfonunately, the additions to the organ could not be completed in lime, the tuning of the new pipes being a work requiring much time and patience. However, the improvements are so far advanced as to demonstrate that when finished the organ will be a better inHrument than in its palmiest days. The concert last night was the first of a series which it is intended to give, and if those to follow prove equal in merit to the one under notice, thise who attend will have no cause to grumble, and the building is likely to prove inadequate to aooommodate all who will desire to gain admittance. The or<?an nolos by Mrs -rime, aud the Binging by members ol the ohoir and friends, were first-olass, indeed the whole conceit was a great musioal success j Mrs Prime's ability as an organist is well known, and she did full justioe to the items allotted to ncr When the addition* to the instrument are completed, Mrs Prime will have more scope lor bringing out the beauties of the selections she plays, especially in the bass pedal work. The singing last night went without a hitch, the various solos, duets, trio*, aud quartettes, being given with a precision and harmony that oan only be attained by steady practice. Mr Prime, as conductor and promoter, and all taking part, are to bo congratulated on the suocess of the concert, a olasa of elevating entertainment which is all too soaroo in Napier. _Le following | was the programme: —Organ solo, " U Benigna, O Regina," Mrs Prime; anthem, " The Lord ia My Strength," ohoir ; solo, "David Singing Before tfaul," Mr Davis; duet, " Ihe Lord is a Mauof War," Mersrs Slade aud Martin ; solo, "At the Minster Gate," Mrsdaundera; quartetto, "God is a Spirit" (unaoeompauied), Mr and Mrs Prime, Mies Ohegwiddon, and Mr Martin ; anthem, "Tho Day of Penticost," choir; off-rtory, organ solo, "I Waited for the Lord," Mrs Piime ; anthem, " Fear not, O Land," choir ; solo, " Abo Better Laud,' Miss/Jrowu; duet, " Ohildren Pray this Love/ Mr aud Mrs Prime ; anthem, "If To Believe Jcbus Died," ohoir ; solo, "Tho Last Man," Mr Martin; anthem, " The Radiant Morn," choir; organ solo, "The Hallelujah Ohorus," Mrs Prime.
