Sydney, This day.
Reports are in circulation that Mr Eddy waa offered a salary of £10,000, with a two years' engagement, by the Victorian Government, to set the railways of the oolony in order.
Replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly, the Minister of Railways said he knew nothing of this arrangement. There saema little possibility of the House agreeing to the icorease in Mr Bddy's salary. The House might vote a salary of £4000 if Mr Eddy was appointed sole Commissioner, but the Government ia unlikely to aocept this.
