BURGLARIES IN AUCKLAND.
| Auckland, This day. ! A burglar entered the bouse of Mr. Matlieson, a resident of Franklin road, early this morning. The house is a twontorey building. The father, son, and all the family sleep upstairs. About 5.30 a.m. Miss Matheson dressed and came downstairs into the sitting room to get her slippers and disturbed the burglar, who promptly placed bis hand over her mouth and marched her into an adjoining room, at the same time carrying a sowing machine with his free hand. Ho locked the door, and proceeded to put the sowing machine in a bag containing other articles, evidently collected previously. Tho burglar had to remove his band from the girl's mouth, when she screamed, and he decamped, leaving his booty behind. The affair has caused a great sensation, as burglaries are of nightly occurrence.
