SOUTHLAND ITEMS.
Invkbcakqi-X, This day. There was a heavy thunderstorm this morning, with a strong gale. Tho gablo end of Messrs Fleming and Wilkinson's old flour mill collapsed, causing damago to the new portion in course of construction. It is believed the damage was caused by the vibiatioufrom tho thunder.
It is denied in Riverton that Dr. Hodgkinson is to bo called to tho Council.
A meeting of settlers who subscribed to the Picturesque Atlas of Australasia is to be held to consider tho position. Great dissatisfaction is being felt at tho demand for payment of a number of copies at once, instead of every month.
