The following players will represent tho tho County in their junior oup raatoh on Saturday at Farndon :—Full-back, Ihaka ; three-quarters, Biscuit, Caultou, Blako; halves, Siddles, Wolls; forwards, Wellwood, Moko, Ihaia, Karena, Hikurangi, Whuiriri, Rainford, Torou, Murphy ; emergencies, Cathorall, Goodall, Barnard.
Wo havo been shown tho plans of " Lewthwaito's patent cable breakwater," which appears to be especially adapted for our harbor works here. The plana show a framing of steel rods resting on the bottom of the soa and tied together by flat bands of iron, whioh being bored, are slipped down the rods. Tho rods aro of any length that may he required to reach from the bottom of tbe sea to tho height of tho breakwater. The framework so formed ia built out in short lengtha, and can then be filled in with any aort of rubble, or bo encased with concrete blocks. Lewthwaito's patent has been successfully applied to the harbor works at Deal, aud other places, and ia wonderfully cheap. If adopted hereon the completion of the present contract, there will be plenty of money to finish tho breakwater without further "borrowing. Mr. M. T. McGrath has charge of tho plans and will submit thorn to Mr. Ormond as chairman of the Harbor Board.
