On Thursday Messrs Hoadley, Lyon, and Co. held a clearing Bale at Mr It. Wellwood's homestead, Maxwell Lea, when in consequence of Mr Wollwood having determined to devote his attention entirely to fattening stock, the whole of his dairy stock, draught horses, farming implements, &c, were offered for sale. The woathor wafl unpleasant, a good deal of rain falling during the afternoon, which must have been partly the cause of a not very large attendance. However, considering the times, the stock sold fairly well,_ although several lots had to be passed in, but were sold ■privately afterwards. Our sales wero as follows :—Cattle—ls fat heifers, £1 2s 6d ; 6 fat bullocks, £7 ; 4 fnt cows, £G o* ; 6 do do,-£5 6a ; 4 2j-ycar-old heifers, £3 10s; 67 head yearling to 2s-year-old woll bred heifers and steers, £3 6s. Draught horses : Nolly, 7yrs, by Dugdale, £15; Lucy, syrs, by Prince Charlie, £45 ; Spanker, Byrs, £30 ; 3-year-old filly by Sir William Wallace, £20 ; yearling filly by Robin Adair—Nelly, £19 ; yearling filly by Robin Adair—Lucy, £13. Pigs—B weacers 8s Gd, 1 fat pig 255, 2do 32s Gd, 1 sow 355. Farming implements brought satisfactory prices. Grass seed—lst quality rye grass seed, 300 bushels, 4s; • 2nd quality, 450 bushels, 3s Gd ; 1000 do do, 3s 3d.
