HASTINGS.
The annual meeting of householders for the election of a School Committee took place last night. There Avas only a small attendance. The report of the outgoing Committee stated that the attendance at the school had increased from 7S boys and 59 girls at the end of 1881 to 87 boys and 74 girls at the end of ISB2. The finances commenced Avith a balance of £29 Is 2d, and the balance iioav to credit Avas £31 3s lOd. The report also urged upon parents the necessity of enforcing regular attendance at the school upon their children. The folioAving were elected the Committee for the ensuing year:—Captain Russell, Messrs J. RcA*nolds, J. Collingc, C. A. Fitzßoy, R. Welhvood, S. T. Tong, and D. J. Joll. At the meeting of the ucav Committee, held immediately afterwards, Captain Russell Avas elected chairman, and Mr W. Beilby secretary.
