The Middle Island Trunk Railway Extension Commission have now completed all their enquiries.. Dr. Follen, the President, has undertaken lo prepare a draft report, which will be submitted to another meeting of the commission for
approval, probably about February next. At an inquest on tbe body of the young man Carter, who died suddenly on Friday night, the medical testimony proved that the deceased had an anurism
of the aorta quite close to the heart, and this bad burst, causing death. A verdict of death from natural causes was returned.
The last of the time signals between Burnbam (Colonel Tupman's station) and Sydney were successfully accomplished last evening. This completes the work in connection with the transit of Venus in New Zealand.
