Mr Hilton, engineer to the Southern Cross Petroleum Company, reports that the alterations to the boring gear will be completed shortly. No obstacle now exists in tbe way of rapid sinking, as there is no water left in the shaft, though oil is still oozing. Five feet daily can now be accomplished in the shaft.
