Auckland v. Timabu,
Timaku, November 30. This match was commenced here at 1.15 p.m. yesterday on the club ground, two miles from town. The weather was splendid. Robinson won the toss, and send Tiraaru in. Shepherd and Smith faced''the bowling of Buckland and Arneil. A bye was run off the second over, and then Shepherd was clean howled by Buckland. I—o—l. The score rose to ten by successive singles, and soon afterwards Smith, who was batting prettily, hit his wicket. 2—l—lo. Raymond and King kept things going for a couple of minutes, when the latter was run out by Arneil when attempting a short one. 3 —1—12. Raymond brought the score up to twenty by good hard hitting, and Barton relieved Arneil as bowler, Hughes being caught at long off by Gardner off bis second ball. 4—1—21. Loagh was the next man, punishing the bowler, when he was run out. 5-8-32. Scott went in, and Lankham replaced Buckland, and took Raymond's wicket in the second over, 6 — 18-33. Eichbaum, the next man, put together five, when he was bowled by Lankham. 7—5-40. Jones, the next man, managed to get two singles before Lankham took his wicket. 9—2— 40. Ness managed one, when he was bowled by Lankham. The innings then closed for 51 runs. The Auckland fielding showed a great improvement. Timaru—First Innings.
