It is reported that the Hon. W. J. Clarke will shortly receive a baronetcy. The statement, however, requires confirmation.
The ship George Thompson, 1128 tons, from Sundevall, timber laden, ran ashore at the heads yesterday. She has since been floated, but is full of water. Continued opposition is beiag experienced by the Government in the Legislative Assembly to the proposals introduced for the conversion of the Victorian loans.
