On Saturday night H. A. Slade and G. Robinson wrestled in Cumberland style for £50 aside and the championship. They were very evenly matched, and during three and a half hours' wrestling only three falls were obtained, Slade two, and Robinson one. The match will be resumed this^evening.
Settling on the Canterbury Jockey Club races took place on Saturday night, when the following amounts were paid over :—-Hon. W. Robinson, £1313 10s; Mr D. Proudfoot, £069 ; Mr J. Pilbrow, £672 12a; Sir H. Robinson, £157 10s; Mr G. Bates, £147 10s; Mr D. O'Brien, £109 ss; Mr J. IT. Lunn, £95 ; Mr E. Cutts, £70 ; Mepprs Mason and Vallance, £70 ; Mr G. P. Williams, £85 ; Mr W. Bishop, £30; Mr G. 11. Lee, £24; Mr T. Steedman, £15 ; Mr H. Murphy, £10; Mr W. Butler, £10. The bookmakers, without exception, lost heavily on tho
meeting. The following amounts passed through the totalisator during the meeting:—First day, £5297; second day, £6770; third day, £7788 ; total £19,855.
