October 9. The Orient steamship Liguria will remain in quarantine for the present. One of the passengers is suffering from an eruytive disease, the exact nature of which, however, cannot be determined at its present stage. The police have effected the capture of the second of the two men who attempted to rob the Commercial Bank of Australia at Avenal on the 6th instant, and who escaped into the busb, when his accomplice was arrested. The man was identified in the city to-day, and was taken into custody. October 10. Mr Fred Marshall, the well-known actor, \a seriously ill, and is obliged to leave the colony. The steamship Ligwria is still in quarantine. Mr James Pile, a passenger for New Zealand, is suffering from an eruptive disease, but it is doubtful if it is small-pox.
