The Eoyal Australian Circus performs at Hastings to-night. The tenth half-yearly meeting of the Napier Working Men's Club takes place at 8 o'clock to-night. The Hawke's Bay Eifle Association holds its annual general meeting at the Empire Hotel tbis evening at 8 o'clock. Mr Byan will sell by auction at noon tomorrow, at the New Zealand Shipping Company's stores, Spit, 220 bags prime milling wheat, and immediately afterwards, at Dransfield's store, 70 bags good feed oate.

The anniversary soiree in connection with Trinity Wesleyan Sunday School takes place to-morrow evening, after which, a public meeting will be held in the church. Messrs Banner and Liddle sell fruit, bacon, hams, maize, and wheat at thoir rooms, by auction, to-morrow at 2 p.m. Entries of produce, implements, &c, for exhibition at the Agricultural and Pastoral Society's show, will be received by the secretary, Mr Beilby, up till 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Messrs Banner and Liddle will offer for sale on Thursday without reserve, at their rooms, a quantity of saddlery, harness, furniture, clothing, &c, and also the stock of Mr T. Rice, who is giving up business. The Petane races are now fixed to come off on the Prince of Wales birthday (November 9th). Nominations for all handicaps must be made by October 13, and general entries by November 3. A grand art union is announced for an automatic organ, collection of panoramic paintings, and a number of stereoscopic views with boxes complete. The tickets are £1 each, and the date and place of drawing will be published shortly. The Heretaunga Road Board invites tenders for forming a portion of St. Aubynstreet, and for metalling Nelson and King streets.

The Napier Artillery Volunteers parade for gun drill on Wednesday evening, and the thirteenth anniversary of the Battery will be celebrated by a dinner on Friday evening at the Caledonian Hotel.

The Municipal Engineer invites tenders foi' cleaning out the storm water sewer in Browning-street and the silt traps, up to the end of this year. All accounts against the late Mr Broadbent are requested to be sent in to Mr A. Grant, Pakowhai station, on or before the 30th instant.

The foundation stone of the new Masonic Hall at Waipawa will be laid "on Thursday next, and brethren of the order are requested to meet at 11 a.m. on that day at the lodge-room, Waipawa, for the purpose of taking part in the ceremony. Mesers Blythe and Co. have opened two more trunks of boots, and are clearing children's boots at still further reduced prices.

Mr P. F. Colledge. Emerson-street, wants orders for the American vulcanised rubber stamp, suitable for stamping linen or paper. Messrs Monteith and Co. make additions to the sales of stock, &c, to be held on the day after the Agricultural and Pastoral Society's ensuing show. Mr W. B. Woods, pharmaceutical chemist, Napier and Hastings, informs the public that, owing to increase in business, he has determined to reduce his scale of charges.
