HAWKE'S BAY COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Council met at 10.30 a.m. Present: Messrs Sutton, Bennett, Kinross, Couper, and Torr. Mr Sutton was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Vouchers to the amount of £248 Is 4d were passed for payment. The balance at the credit of the Council was stated to be £1148 4s 6d. TENDERS. The following tenders were accepted: — J. Walker, for repairing the Puketitiri road, £60 ; J. Madden, for forming 30 chains MeaDee road, 17s 6d per chain; R. Thomas, for forming 50chains OraahuHastings road, 10s 6d per chain. CORRESPONDENCE. From A. Shield, in reference to the Omahu-Rissington road. It was decided that the overseer should satisfy himself that £60 had been expended on the road before the Council should order tbe payment of the grant of £30. From the Chief Surveyor, reporting the completion of the Puketitiri survey, and recommending that No. 6 section ' should be reserved. From Mr* Bicknell, offering 'land required for a road through his property at £17 per acre. Accepted. From Mr Goddard, requesting the abatement of the nuisance caused by the stoppage of the drains on the HavelockNapier road. Referred to overseer. From Mr Madden, praying for compensation for loss by the late flood of material supplied to the Council. Referred to overseer. From Inspector of Slaughter Houses, reporting their proper conduct, and recommending the granting of a license to Francis Higgins. Application granted accordingly. From Road Overseer, reporting favorably on contracts completed and in progress. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr Sutton drew the attention of the Council to tbe provisions of the Roads Construction Act, and recommended setting apart £500 for the Omahu-Kuripa-panga road in order to secure assistance from the Government to the amount of £1500. On the motion of Mr Torr it was resolved to instruct the surveyor to lay off the Petane-Wairoa road. NOTICE Or MOTION. i Mr Bennett to move, " That this Council re-adjust the boundaries of the ridings, and also make two additional ridings, the alteration to come into effect at the next general election for the councillors." The Council then adjourned.
