September 26. Major Stapp to-day is enrolling settlers at Mania for a volunteer corps, and to-morrow he will beat Opunake. The Native Minister is now at Pungarebu, he endorses the action of the settlers in preparing for contingencips. At present the natives are passive, and appear discomfitted at the action of the Europeans.
