HAWERA.
August 9. A surveyor named Thomns Anderson blew his brains out yesterday with a carbine. He was in charge of the survey at the back of Mokaia, on native reserve. He started out with bis party, and when he got out a short distance told the men to go on and he would follow. He went back to the tent, and committed the act. Tbe cook conveyed the news to the men, when returned, but life was extinct. The deceased came to .New Zealand seven yeare ago, and was one of tbe surveyors turned off the Waimate Plains by the natives. For a few days deceased had been despondent, and bardly spoke a word.
