ADELAIDE RACES.
(BY CABiE.) - Adelaide, May 26. The race for the Adelaide Birthday Cup was run to-day, and resulted as follows: — Mata 1 Progress 2 Crystal 3 Won by two lengths. The other starters were Savanaka, Suwarrow, Odd Trick, The Vagabond, Lothair, Pawnbroker, Rothschild, Venus, President, and Rifleman. The course very slippery owing to the recent heavy^raine. Melbourne, May 27. The Australasian to-day, referring to the Adelaide Birthday Cup, says that Mata's running for the race fully justifies hia disqualification by the Victoria Racing Club after the last Melbourne Cup. Mata was sold yesterday for eight hundred guineas shortly before the race.
