Messrs W. R. Miller and Potts report that at their sheep sale held at Mr Scrimgeour's yards, Kaikora, yesterday, there were over 2000 sheep yarded, piincipally fullmouthed ewes, stores, and lambs, also a few year old steers and cows. There was a good attendance, but enquiries were principally for fat sheep. The following lots were sold :—SOO six tooth and full-mouthed ewes at 3s 6d, 164 full-mouthed ewes at ss, 280 broken-mouthed at 2s 6d, steers at 40s.

The local agent of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports receiving from the London office the following telegram, dated 17th instant: —The ■wool sales progress firmly. Up to date 50,000 bales have been sold. There is an active demand on German and Belgian accounts, but French demand is moderate. Home buyers are not operating with spirit. Competition is increa; >ng, and the market is firmer. Seedy and burry wools are neglected ; medium and inferior greasy, merino lambs in grease, cross-bred good quality light in g'ease, have advanced -Jd to Id per lb; coarse cross-bred and clothing •washed, market easier; combing washed, market unchanged ; long staple merino scoured, market firmer.
