Sutton, of Invercargill, and Mr P. 0. Threlkeld, of Canterbury, were eagerly sought after, and the biddings for local bred sheep were equally spirited. The total number of sheep yarded was hardly up to last year, but the quality and selection, with rare exceptions, were better. They sold 345 merinos and 292 Lincolns, giving a total of 657 rams ; and a further 210 merinos and 40 Lincolns are now being treated for. There will be little surplus stock of either class left over this season. The following prices were realised for the lots offered by them : — Mr J. Collins' 22 two to six-tooth Lincoln rams—6 at £6 each, and 4at £7 7s each, Mr Knight; 4at £6 6s each, Mr Chambers 3 at £5 5s each, Mr Beamish ; 2 at £6 6s, each, Mr Bridge j g ftt £6 6s each Captain Russell.
