The school had been 12 months only under the present at.iff of teachers, but f i oni the lesults of an cxami nationjlicld on the 1.5th and l4th insLmt, it was gitted by the committee to be in a highly satisfactory condition- It would bo folly to lumcrt, as the chairman well remarked, that perfection had been attained in any brunch of knowledge ; for there was the great Pacific Ocean of unexplored truth lying before them, in the presence- of which the biightest and best infotmed must admit, with the grent Newton, they were only like children gathering pebbles on the iliore. But the committee expressed themselves agreeably surprised at the proficiency attained in the time, and the unostentatious but solid character of the instruction There was a great drawback owing to the w.vnt of sufficient school accomodation. The committee are to take steps for the erection of a new school at tho top of Kyber Pass Road. Then, instead of a roll, as at present, of 252 hcJkiI.us, they expect to see an average daily .ittend.mco of that number, or, perhaps, more. It was further confidently remarked that 12 hoys and 12 girls mght be selocted fit to compete w 1th tho samenumber out of any pi iv.tte school m the place, in any branch of cduc ition wheie the study had been confined to .i pcucd of twehe months.
