To the Editor : Sir,—" Let us consider a enemies to Auckland all curs who yelp a the heels of the foremost orator and honest statesman in New Zealand— the Rupeit of debate — the outspoken championof justice to the weak — theinan'who doeswhatisright and fears not." Thus writes a Star correspondent. Pity he had not lived in New Zealand thirty years ago. Perhaps he can toll us who the "honest statesman" who wrote the celebrated "Ulood and Treason" despatch —that gross libel on the early pioneers of the land, upon "the people " Avhosechampion it now suits him to play the role ! " The outspoken champion of justice to the weak!" Oh! shtules of the widows Monvant and Forbes, hearken unto this ! Behold how easy a thing it is !— I am, &c, A» Captamjum Vumsim.
