The A?enfc General by telegram dated July 3rd announces to tlie Premier that during June, 1874, the following ships with immigrants sailed for the Colony : — ' Oxfoid, 1 43() ■onls, for Auckland ; 'Carlisle,' and "Douglas,' 870 souls, for,WelimLton ; 'Parsee,' 'Tweed,' •McLausIand,' 1370 soul«, for Ota^o ; ' Callicott,' supposed to be 'Calliope,' for Canterbury; 'Merchant' and 'Gutenburg,' 1,440 souls, for Canterbury. These numbers make the total number of immigrant* shipped for New Zealand between January 1st and th<* end of June, 21,400. The railway plant transhipped during June wat 10,000 tonsjef rails ami fastenings, 20 neighing machines, 25 sets waggon iron, 32 tons bridge work, 122 cylinders, 1,500 coils of wire, 624 cases of telegraph material. Mr. Kisshng has been appointed Registrar of the Supreme Court of Auckland during the absence, on leare, of L. O'Brien. At the Resident Magistrate's Court on Saturday, James Wheeler, charged with vagranoy, stated he had been discharged from ft Lunatic Asylum in Otago, and that the Government of that province paid his passage to Wellington.

GREYTOWN, Monday. Captain Cleland, an old settler, was killed on Saturday by hie hoi se shying at the coach, throwing him, and being checked by reins, on* hind, foot struck his jaw, and the other his ohest. Death was instantaneous. 8 p.m. An inquest was held to-day, on the body of Captain Cleland, and a verdict of aceidendal death was returned. A rider wag added exonerating the driver of the coach from|ftll blame. The remains will be iutorred to-morrow, with military honours.

OHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Baring th« past three months, 2,500 imtnigrants have arrived in this province. The Government has provided barracks, and the Road Bnarda have erected otfages in variom parts of the province. The Itoad Boards are employing large numbers of immigrants ; and arrangements are just completed betwren the Government and City Council for employing a large number in forming outlying streets and belts of Christchuroh Another meeting ii called for to-morrow, to protest againat tbo erection of a college in the Domain, with a view of influencing the Upper Houtn to reject the Bill. At a public meeting held last night, at which about 400 persons were present, a resolution was passed protesting against the proposed alienation of five acres of the public domain for the erection of Canterbury Colle^ was carried by a vtry large majority. Mesira. Williams, Knight, Ma^kalf, and Andrews, members of the Provincial Council, ■poke in support of the resolution. The Superintendent and Rev. C. Fraser ■poke againit it. The Mayor, who presided, signed a petition on behalf of the meeting against the Bill now before the Assembly for the purpose of alienating the land.
