A discussion aro'jo upon tho question of whether a bjll or banquet would bo the more desirable, and was decided in favour of tho banquet, to which not only tho Thames men, but all tho representatives of tho province of Auckland, weio to bo invited. It was also icsolvod that a half-holiday should bo kept on tho day of tho celebiation, Captain Eraser pioimsmg to protect mining claims, ao that all Volunteers might bo freo to attend. It Wai also arranged, with Major Uooper'H concurrence, that tho monthly inspection of Volunteers should bo held on that day, and that afterwards tho vanous companies with tho bands should match to tho steamer and receive thoir comladoa fiom tho South. The utmost outhuHiaHin was displayed at tho mooting, with a lioai ty determination to leavo nothing undono to rendor tho demonstration a thorough success. Funds woio ficoly subscribed, and a stront; committee, to include all tho captains of Volunteer companies appointed to carry out tho proposod anaugoinent.H.
