WELLINGTON. "Wednesday. Cotonel Fielding's solicitors have received ndvices that the Colonists' Aid Corporation's first batch of immigrants will be despatched to the colony shortly. iThe Government will introduce a Consolidated Goldfields Act next session.
GREYMOUTH. Wednesday. A fire occurred this morning in Hospitalstreet, by which a store and stable belonging to, a boatman named Constantino were destroyed, together with a large quantity of goods. Two horses were also burned. The property was uninsured.
TIMARU. - Wednesday. 178,519 bushels grain were shipped during the laafc half-year. A large quantity is still in store and to arriva. A company is being formed to pufonase the pneumatic apparatus used in sinking the Kangitata bridge cylinders, for the p«rpose of prospecting the bed of the Clutha rirer.
HOKITIKA. Wednesday. Mr. Cassins has given £100 towards a reward of £1,000 to be offered for the discovery of gold-bearing reefs south of Teremakau.
NAPIER. Wednesday. The Governor has arrived here. The ' liana' on her way down called in at Hicks'a Bay, where a land dispute, which threatened to result in an open outbreak between the chiefs Mokena and Wa Kiriwiwi, was proceeding. After a long discussion both the disputants agreed to leave the matter in Mr. McLean's hands. The Governor expressed his gratification at the satisfao* tory conclusion of the quarrel.
DUNEDIN. Wednesday. The Customs revenue of Dunedin for the last financial year was £212,923, showing an increase of £21,129 over the previous ye»r.
