ANNIVERSARY SOIREE.

Tni; anniversary soinJo in connection with the LMwardes-street Sunday .School was held last night in the schoolroom. A very targe j party aat down to tea, which being disposed of, they retired fo the church adjoining, where the speaking was performed. ' The Rev. Mr. ] yVultera occupied the chair. The meeting was began , by singing the 7 1 6th hymn, and prayer, engaged in by* the Riv. Chairman, j after which he delivered a short address, in which' h© expressed regret at the unavoidable abaonce of Captain Peek, in conaeqnence 6f his having hurt his leg. He expected, how- , ever, that Captain !l?eek would deliver two sermons in their church before he left this harbour. The Secretary of the School then read the 20th annual < report, ending October 1, 1871. It waB stated that i there had not been much good teen from, their labour during the past yew amongst ; the children. The senior , scholars, had been ' a source of soriaiderable anxiety to' the teachers, and f earV were entertained that they j had obtained tod much liberty ; and a hope was expressed that parents would exercise a controlling inflndnoe upon them when they •' were at home. During the year.ohe of the teachers, Miss Elizabeth Anderion, had died, v and her end was peace. A -pleasing tribute J. was passed to her memory. The Band of ; Hope had held their meetings, with success, , and there were now 1,87 names upon f the roll. ! The want of hynrab'ooks was jiheir' greatest difficulty.
