WATER SUPPLY.
TO THE EDITOR. 'Sir, — "With regard to the "local" which appeared' in 'yesterday's Gross, allow me to observe that it is not always judicious to give publicity to' plan's before they are fully matured. The matter in question is one of so great importance that it necessitates the most careful deliberation, step by step. Such is the course being pursued by the gentlemen who are moving in it ; ajacl the pnblic may rest assured, notwithstanding outside reports, that the fullest information will be given when the proper time arrives, it being the desire of the promoters that everyone shall benefit by the undertaking, whether shareholders or otherwise. I may remark that it is not contemplated, for the present, to bring a supply into Auckland for 150,000 persons, as represented. To do so would bo an absuidity, and entail considerable unnecessary outlay ; though it can be done under the proposed scheme, should an increase. of population require it at any future time. I would ask the public not to be inflnonceil by unauthorised statements, but t> resoi vc their judgment until the nutter is brought authoiitativuly before them.— l am, ke, Ul-ohui; YV. Jones.
