COROMANDEL : DISTRICT MATTERS.
A man in the employ of Mr. Quailo, baker, upper township, has been badly bitten by a dog belongiug to a Mr. Montgomery, a settler living near the Court-house. The matter will, in all probability, form the subject of magisterial investigation. We have at length got a medical man amongst us, Dr. Payne, under whose care the injured man is progressing favourably. It is to be hoped sufficient encouragement will be given to induce the doctor to remain here pei'manently, as the want of a qualified practitioner is greatly felt. — I hear that the Pacific Hotel, on the beach, has changed hands for £250, and that Mr. Robert Glover is the purchaser. — The hotel at Kikowhakarere, belonging to Mr. Gibbons, is, I am informed, to be taken down and removed to a site on the beach, in close proximity to the Pacific. — Mr. Cahir, the contractor for the beach road, is getting on well with his work, and before long we shall have ' a tolerably good load the entire distance from the beach to King's mill.
