THE GEOGRAPHY OF NEW ZEALAND.
If the prcsenb Board of Education had done nothing but recommend the leaching of New Zealand geography in the schools, it would deserve to be gratefully remembered by the province. Wo have inspected the map and manual sent to the various school committees, and both are well adapted for teaching the rising generation a knowledge of the country in which they live. "Mason's Geography of New Zealand has been already introduced in tlio principal schools in the province, and Mr. Bowden'a "Manual" will be a sort of teacher's handbook, as the price will keep it out of the reach of the pupils of many of the schools in country districts. The latter is one of the most creditable publications connected with the colony we have seen, and the only regret we enn feel is that it was not printed in New Zealand,
