KIHIKIHI : DEFENSIVE MEASURES.

The petition I alluded to in my laafc has been successful, as a detachment of the Armed Constabulary arrived here yesterday from Hamilton, ia charge of Sub-Inspector Newell. They have marched this morning to garrison the blockhouse at Orakau. The strength, of the detachment is one sergeant and 12 prirates. This blockhouse is surrounded by a very slight tea-tree fence ; but the men, I am told, are about to surround it by a redoubt. —[Own Correspondent.]
