Although the police force in this city and at the Thames have, with commendable diligence, succeeded in getting sufficient evidence to establish, no fewer than seven distinct prima facie serious charges against the man Dunne, yet they are not quite satisfied. They are indebted to him for a considerable amount of jewellery and other articles, which nobody has as yet claimed. >The impecuniosity of the Provincial Government having been, the means of causing the Police Gazette to cease being published, the police have applied to us to make the description of the articles in their possession generally known, in the hope of finding owners. The following articles are now in the possession of Sergeant Jeffery in Auckland, and Detective Pardy at the Thames : —One gold cross and necklet, a strip of black enamel on one side of the cross ; a gold brooch with white bnat of a lady on it; a gold locket, containing light-coloured hair ; a ggold watch chain, curb pattern; a golfl key and small rings attached; one gold locket with blue engraving on one side ; a gold miniature locket; a gold ring set with turquoise stone ; a gold stud ; a watch-key with glass on one side and red on the other ; one i nitation gold stud set with glass ; a cornelian stud ; a purse bound with brass ; and one bright-coloured morocco leather pocketbook.
