AMUSEMENTS.
The tragedy of "Richard III." was announced for performance last evening at the Prince of Wales Theatre, but at eight o'clock Mr. S. O'Brien came forward and apologised for their inability to carry out the programme owing to the continued illness of Mrs. Harry Jackson, who had been cast for the part of the Queen. We mentioned in a recent issue that Mrs. Jackson was unfortunately suffering from a severe indisposi ion, but we hope this highly gifted lady will soon be able to resume her professional duties. The sensational drama of "Lost in the Pacific" was then performed in a most creditable manner, and was followed by the farce of " The Lottery Ticket."
We learn, with pleasure, that a complimentary concert is to be given to G. F. Farrow, Esq., who, for many years, has taken a leading part as a vocalist in Auckland, and is now about to leave for England. His departure will be a loss to the musical community, and his many friends. Madame Mitchell, from the Thames, late of the Radford Choral Society, will assist upon the occasion, and will, of course, prove a great attraction.
