PURE -BRED STOCK COMPANY.
A meeting of the committee appointed to carry out the preliminary arrangements necessary to the formation of a company of agriculturists and others, for tho purpose of importing pure-bred stock into the province, was held last Saturday at two o'clock, in the British Hotel. There were present Messrs. Bassetj; (in the chair), J. Gordon (secretary), James Runciman, F. .Robertson, Joseph May, Joseph Newman, and — Oawkwell. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. — The Chairman announced tint Mr. Whitaker had drawn up the articles of association, which were now on the table, and also the memorandum of association. — This latter instrument -win read by the secretary, and showed that the company was to be named the Auckland Stock Importation Company (Limited) : the registered office of the company was to be at Ofcahuhu. The object of the company was to be the improvement of the breed ot cattle in the province by tho importation of pure-bred stock from England ; and the capital of the company was lixed at £1,001), in 200 shares of £5 each. — The memorandum was agreed to, when the Chairman suggested tho advisability of electing provisional directors at once, which would save the delay and expense that would be caused by electing them after all the shares were taken up. — On the motion of Mr. Robertson, it was resolved that the number of directors should be five instead of three, as printed in the draft copy of articles of association, and three to be a quorum. — Messrs. Bassett, May, Alfred Buckland, Cawkwell, and John Wallace were then elected directors. — Upon the motion of Mr. May, it was agreed that the secretary be requested to wait upon Mr. Whitaker again to see if anything else was to be done in order to comply strictly with the terms of the Act. After agreeing to meet again next Saturday, and a vote of thanks being passed to the Chairman, the meeting separated.
