WINDING-UP COMPANIES.

To the Editor of tho JDaily SOUTHERN CROSS. Sir,— So much has been said, and, what is worse, insinuated, with regard to the motivea upon .which I acted in the recent mining cases, that; I atn certain you will allow me to state, through the medium of your paper, that my only object has been, and will be, to act in concert with, the shareholders of every company that is now in process of being wound up. If the shareholders will only attend the meetings they are requested to do, and themselves fix an amount that will be sufficient to pay off liabilities and expenses, they will not only do what I wish them to do, but save themselves expense, and me trouble. I am, &c, C. H. Otway, Official Agent. Official Agent's Office, Auckland, June 16, 1870.
