ARRIVAL OF THE ISMAY FROM LIVERPOOL. -BOY LOST OVERBOARD.

The fine iron barque Ismay, under tlie command of Captain Sherwin, arrived in harbour ou Saturday afternoon, after a tedious passage of 142 days from Liverpool. *The length of the passage is easily accounted for by the long prevalence of light winds ex* perienced during the passage. The Ismay brings a large general cargo, and two passengers. She comes consigned to Messrs. Owen and Graham. The following is Captain Sherwin's report of the passage -.—Left Liverpool December 22, 1869, and had a good run to 5N., where the barque was on January 17. Crossed the equator on January 31, and picked up the S.E. tiadea, which pioved light, in 3 S., and lost them again on February 12, in 27. From thence to Tristan d'Acunha light unsettled winds. Passed meridian of the Cape of Good Hope on March 8. From this date to the 24th, had light variable winds and calms; thence light northerly. Ran down her c? sting in the parallel of 45. Sighted Van Diemen's Land on April 18, With light S.E. and E. winds* Entered Bass's Straits on the 25th. On the 28th, lost one of the boys, named Richard Earnshaw, overboard. We take the particulars of the occurrence from the ship's log: — "At about twenty minutes past noon, when reefing the mainsail, the boy Richard Earnshaw fell from the mainyard into the sea ; hauled the ship to the wind, and hove the life-buoy close to the lad, and out boat immediately. About 40 minutes afterwards the boat returned without finding any traces of the unfoitunate lad. Put ship on her course, and pi oceeded on her voyage. Cleared Baf-s's Straits on April 30 ; and from thence to the Three Kings, which were sighted on May 9, had variable winds ; thence down the coast E and S.E. winds. Exchanged signals with the s.s. Wonga Wonga off the Poor Kuights. The Ismay anchored off the powder ground, having on board a quantity of kerosme, on discharge of which she will come up haibour to the usual anchorage.
