The World's Havana correspondent says the report of the resignation of General Jordan is untrue. He is doing all he can to increase the efficiency of the army, and devoting special attention to the quartermaster and commissary departments. Summary executions of Cubans by the Spanish authorities continue wherever the Spaniards have foothold. The insurgents in the neighbourhood of Guines have been reduced to 75 j 36 of the original band have been killed. They are completely surrounded, and cannot escape. Important correspondence has been captured, disclosing the fact that the rebel generals Hurtado, Delvalle, Salome, Hernandez, and others are forming clubs hostile to annexation to the United States. The details of an important battle at Mina de Juan Eodejuce between Jordan and Puello, on New Year's Day, have been received. The battle was fought at the point above-named —one of the apjjroaches to Guaymaro, the Cuban seat of Government. It asted all clay, and ended wifch the retreat of Puello, after a total loss of 1,200 to 1,600 killed, wounded, and prisoners. The Cubans pursued and harrassed the flying enemy until the latter reached Arroyo Hondo, where Puello entrenched himself, and stood a siege of fifteen days, suffering great privations, and killing horses and mules for food.
