CATHOLIC INSTITUTE.

A musical and literary entertainment in aid of the funds of the Catholic Institute, Wellington-street;, was given last evening in the hall of the Institute. There was a large audience. The president of the Institute, Mr. John Sheehan, M.P.C., occupied the chair, and briefly explained the objects of the society. The debt of the society had originally been as high as £600, but now it had been reduced to £300, and this, too, in the face of great difficulties. They were greatly indebted to the kindness and forbearance of Air. William Aitken, the mortgagee of the property ; but he hoped that in a year or two they would be out of debt, and be able to look upon the hall as in reality their own.
