WELLINGTON.

We have Wellington papers to the Ist,' but they are almost barren of news, About half-past ten o'clock on January 27 the Thornclon fire-bell rang out a vigorous peal — smoke and flame being seen issuing from a small house in Mulgrave-street, occupied by Mr. Ellison. An immediate rush was made to the place, and at first there was pome difficulty in getting into the house, no one being at home. An entrance was, however, speedily effected, and the lining and loof of a small front bedroom was found burning vigorously. Fortunately, the fire had not obtained any great hold, and a few buckets of water, properly applied, sufficed to quench it. The fire was evidently caused bv sparks from the chimney alighting on the roof.
