SOLICITORS : Messrs. Jackson and Russell,

I la submitting a Prospectus of the (John O'Groats Extension Gold-mining Company (Registered), consisting of about 20 men's ground, to the public/the direotors believa th»t they cannot do justice to the merits ofjthe undertaking. The rioh prizes already drawn from the line of the now famous Dixon's Reef No. 1 are a sufficient guarantee that anyj company fortunate enough to secure ground traversed by it offers inducement for investment rarely equalled in the goldfields. The Company has been fortunate enough to secure one-and-a-half men's ground found to bs surplus from the John O'Groat9 Claim, and this in conjunction with the remaining portion of the lease should give the underlie of Dixon's No.fl reef, for a distanoe of the whole length of the ground belonging to tho Company. Mr. Mackenzie, a Mining Manager of great experience fromJYictoria, has beenj engaged, and it is proposed to push the works forward with the utmost vigour so as to develop tba resources of the mine at as early a period as possible. The Direotors offer 5,000 shares t« the public »t par for 10 dajs froa date, after which no fuither application will be received ; 17s. 6d. per aorip to be paid on application. The Claims on whioh it is proposed to form the above-mentioned Company consist of fifteen acres of ground situated on tha Wild Missouri Range, Tinker's Gully, Tararu, including the RISE AND SHINE, COCK OF THE WALK, KAITAHI, and JOLLY BUTCEERS, claims on which miuiug operations have been carried on for the last eight months and now held under a Lease, including the Machine Site and Right of Water in Tinker's Gully. The Shareholders in the above claims, haying exhausted their means in opening up the different auriferous lodes traversing their claim and in carting-their quartz at a ruinous expense to different machines (trial crushings having yielded as muoh as two ounces to the load), have now consented to part with one half of their interest on tho following advantageous terms : That a Company should be formed consisting of (200) two hundred shares, of which the original shareholders reserve (100) one hundred, and now offer (100) one hundred to the public at a premium of (£6) six pounds eaob, (£2) two pounds on allotment, and the balance iv two monthly instalments of (£2) two pounds each ; the proceeds of which (£600) six hundred pounds, is to be appropriated in the following manner :— (£so) fifty pounds amount expended in preliminary expenses and lease, (£5O) fifty pounds ia erecting a watecwheel on a suitable site oa the claim, (£100) one hundred pounds towards purchasing one of the new pstenb quartzcrushers ; the balance of (£400) four hundred pounds in getting miuiug tools, trucks, and in crushing tho quartz already on the ground, aud further proving the claim. Trials of the machine proposed to be erected have satisfied the shareholders that from (20) twenty to (30) thirty tons of quartz per week can be put through at the above oxpsnditure. They will thus be enabled to prove and further develop the immense esourcea of their claim ab no further oonfc te the sba eholders. Each promoting shareholder will thus be entitled to (50) fifty Bhares of (£1) ona pound each, (10s.) ten shillings paid up in a Registered Company, to be formed ho soon as the results of tbe crushings are ascertained and the value of the claim established, A full report of the different workings, toother with a plan of the ground by Mr. Joseph Patrick, Government Surveyor, can be seen at the offices of A. PSOSPECTUS OP rpHE THAMES GAS COMPANY (LIMITED PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS : James Smart, Esq. IC. J. Stone, Esq. F. E. Stewart, Esq. | Rob brt On ah am, Esq. (With power to add to their number.) BANKERS : Bank of Australasia, SOLICITORS t Whitakeb and Russell, CAPITAL : £20,000, in Ten Thousand Shares of £2 each. 10s. on application, 10s. on allotment, and the balance in calls of SJ.5 J . per share on 21 days' notice, BROKERS i N, W. Massby I Lyle and Totton.

1. This Company is formed for the purpose of pro* viding the means of lighting the Towns of Shortland and Graham's Town with Gaa, and thus supplying a want muoh felt in both townships. 2, The Directors have been promised an admirable site for the proposed works, close to the beach, mid* way between the two townships ; where, by running cut an inexpensive wharf, the delivery of plant, coals, &0., can be secured at the very lowest rated. 8. It is reasonable to suppose that, from the unexampled development of this district since its opening as a goldfield, the present detached townships will eveutually beooine one city, requiring, bs it advances in prosperity, all tbe aid of modern oivilisation for the benefit of its inhabitant*. 4. The Directors therefore propose raising a larger capital than would suffice for the Bupply of Gas to the preiect population, in order that they may be enabled to meet the increased demand caused by increasing consumers. 5. In addition to tbe large income which may be reiwonably expected horn the supply of Qua to business houses, a further source of profit may be expected from public lights, whioh will most likely be ereoted as soon as 9. supply of Gas oan be relied on. The sale of coke will also, it ia presumed, be very large, that fuel being so well adapted for steam purposes.
