i Sydney, July 13, The ' Thetis ' haß returned from the Douglan wreck, and reports the vessel intact on Elizabeth Reef, hey masts still standing and her yards aloft. English advices state that the flying squadron will arrive in Melbourne about the 12th of November and will remain there ten daya. The French war Bteamer ' Guiohen,' which arrived to-day from New Caledonia, brings news to the 4tU inst. General peace had been established on the island, and a great fcasfc had taken place, at which the aborigines attended, in celebration of the anniveisary of the settlement. The island waa in a prosperous st&te.
llockhampton, July 19. A nugget of twenty-six ounces, and two others weighing about four ounces, in all thirty ounces, were brought in from Mount Wheeler on Saturday evening. Captain Hunter waa there on the same day, and saw sixteen pounds weight of gold belonging to one digger. On Sunday morning he saw fourteen poxinds weight of gold belonging to another digger, Young Cadden has found another nuggefe weighing two pounds and a half. The diggers on the ground (which is only aev«nteea milea from Eookhamptou) are doing well. Brisbane, July 9, Mr. Franois baa revived the question of payment of membars in the Assembly. Judge Innea has resigned his appointment, and ia going to Sydney, July 10. The Government have cancelled Mr. Ross Lewin's license to charter vessels for the Polynesian labour trade, ia consequence of improper use having been made of the license issued.
Dubeo, July 17. An important gold discovery has juifc been reported at Dubbo. The yield from Gladstone Beef 38 reported to be five ounces to the ton.
Ballarat, July 12. A terrible anil fatal accident occurred to-day at Fry's Flour Mills, near the Swamp. Ihe boiler exploded, and a man named Hill was blown to atoms,
