MILITARY INDTTSTEIAL SETTLEMENT.
In the House of Kepreaentativee on the 21st, Mr. Graham asked the Premier, whether the Government have received any communication from England on the aubjeofc of a propo«ed soheme for a military indi»B» trial settlement in the North Island j and, if so, what steps they propose to take or may have taken ia the matter.— The Hon. the Premier replied inthenegativB to the first part of the question. The Government had the subjeot under consideration, but he would request the hon. memoer not to presa for a more definite answer.— Mr. Fitzherbert said that when iv England he was incomunioation with Colonel Maude on the subjeot, and informed his colleagues of what had taken place. He believed that if encouragement were given a veiy valuable cl&^s of settleis of this kind might be introduced. He should be happy to place any information at hits command at the disposal of Government.
