P-ROSPECTTJS OS 1 rpHE THAMES GAS COMPANY (LIMITED PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS s Jame3 Smabt, Esq. C. J. Stone, Esq. F. E. Stewart, Esq. Robeht Gkaham, Esq. (With power to add to their number.) BANKERS : Baxk of Australasia. SOLICITORS : Whitaker and Russell. CAPITAL : £20,000, in Ten Thousand Shares of £2 each. 10s. on application, 10s. on allotment, and the balanc* in calls of ss. per share on 21 days' notice. BROKERS : N. W. Massey ; Lyle ano Totton. 1. This Company is formed for the purpose of providing the means of lighting the Towns of Shortland and Graham's Town with Gas, and thus supplying a want much felt in both townships. 2. The Directors have been promised an admirable site for the proposed works, clo3e to the beach, midway between the two townships ; where, by running out an inexpensive wharf, the delivery of plant, coals, &c. s caa be secured at the very lowest rates. 3. It is reasonable to suppose that, from the unexampled development of this district since its opening as a goldfield, the present detached townships will eventually become one city.requiring, as it advances in prosperity, all the aid of modern civilisation for the benefit of its inhabitants. 4. The Directors therefore propose raising a larger capital than would suffice for the supply of Gas to the present population, in order that they may be enabled to meet the increased demand caused by increasing consumers. 5. In addition to the large income which may be reasonably expected from the supply of Gas to business houses, a further source of profit may be expected from public lights, which will most likely be erected as soon as a supply of Gas can be relied on. The sale of coke will also, it is presumed, be very large, that fuel beicg bo well adapted for steam purposes,

rpHE QUEEN FIRE AND LIFE INSURANCE X COMPANY. Capital: £2,000,000. Seven Reasons why you should Insure your Life. 1. Because life is so uncertain ; while you are in health you are certain to be accepted, whereas if you postpone it you are liable to contract some disease, anil then to be rejected by every Assurunc Company : by delay you gain nothing; by delay you may lose all chance of being assured. 2. Because the greatest financier:) of the present day, as well as bankers and meichanti, usually avail themselves of the ben*-fits which Life Assurance offeis, and you cannot do better than follow their example in this respect. 3. Bacause, if you are young, an Assurance Policy would not cost you much. If at 25, for £100, abou*; £2 os. 4d. >eaily, with your share of the profits of the Company; and you mv.st remember — "the young die as well aa the old." 4. Because, if you are not married, you can, by joining a Life Assurance Socieby, obtain a document which will prove that you have cted with prudence aud forethought, and may be the means of your making such a inatcU that your future course may be one of prospeiity. 5. Because, if you are married, and are not assured, you may have cause to regret that you had neglected such an easy method of providing for those you love ; aud on a dying bed it would add to your other disties^ing feekugs. 6. Because, ie you are in bueiues", and one of a firm, jou can have a Partnership Assurance, d, in the event of death occurring to either, the business remains undisturbed through the withdraw al of part capital which is usually the case after such an event, or, if you have advanced money to any person, or you have a debtor unable to pay, you can assuie their lives and hold the Policy as security. ! 7. Because a Life Assurauce Policy is a good pecunty for loans, and in temporary embarrassment is often used with great advantage. J. TON SON GAULICK, Agent for the Province of Auckland.
